After battling through a season hampered by rain and wet playing conditions, the Bright Star league ended their slate of games and awards were given.

More than 100 players and buddies on four teams for special needs athletes received recognition for their hard work and dedication.
Veronica Yost, Bright Star board member said the league had enjoyed another successful season.
“I would like to thank all of our volunteers that are so giving of their time to Bright Star Baseball,” Yost said. “We would also like to thank our 2017 team sports: Edward Jones, Craig Johnson; Century 21, Home Town Real Estate, McCormick Construction & Roofing and Brydl Contracting.”
Yost continued, “Our 2017 buddy T-shirt sponsors: Dr. Tod Conner Family, Tran Family, Crouse Family, Yost Family, Richard and Mary Miller, Red River Valley Down Syndrome Society, Endless T-shirts, East Texas Physical Therapy, Shannon Oaks Church, Dairy Farmers of American, First Assembly of God, Sulphur Springs Bell Concrete, Inc. Special thanks goes out to Alliance Bank for providing our end of season meal for our players, buddies and coaches. Currently Bright Star Baseball is raising funds to build an all weather field. Our biggest challenge has been and continues to be the weather.  We have had to cancel ball games due to field conditions.  A special rubberized field would allow Bright Star Baseball to play our games as scheduled, even after a rain storm. You can make a donation towards Celebration Field at our YouCaring site, www.brightstarbaseball.com or you mail a donation check: Bright Star Baseball, P.O. Box 1143, Sulphur Springs, Tx.”
Bright Star is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit and all donations are tax deductible, Yost said.
