Sulphur Springs
in area track
Thursday
    Several members of the Sulphur Springs boys and girls track teams will be involved Thursday in the UIL Area Track meet for Districts 15 and 16 at Lovejoy High School.


    Action begins at 9:30 a.m. with the 3,200-run for boys and girls. Field events start at 10 a.m. Afternoon action includes the 4x100-meter relay at 5:05 p.m. and concludes at 7:35 p.m. with the 4x400 relay.
    For Sulphur Springs they have a strong group which will be attending, including many members of the girls team which took the district title.
    Imani Taylor was high point and won the long jump, took second in the triple jump and was a part of the first place 4x100-meter relay team. Sydney Washburn, a freshman long distance runner, will race in area in both the 1,600 and 3,200-meter races. Sheretta Hill made area as an individual in the 400-meter run, she is also on the 4x200-meter relay. N’sya Dugan and Sadavia Porter will be running in the 100-meter dash and on relay teams. Abbi Baier won both girls relays and Faith Hatley also qualified with second and third lace finishes.
    Mason Buck qualified in the 300-meter hurdles and Ryan Humphries in the 100-meter dash; Landon Thornton and Peyton Vickery qualified in the 3,200 run and Ian Blanch, shot put.

Physicals set
for SSHS
    Physicals for Sulphur Springs athletes will be conducted
April 30 at the high school gym.
    Exams will be done 2-3 p.m. for students involved in sports.

Saltillo downs
SB girls, 7-4
    The Saltillo Lady Lions took an early lead and held on tight to win 7-4 over a spirited  Sulphur Bluff team.
    The Lady Lions scored five runs in the first and added two more runs in the fourth.
    Sulphur Bluff scored two times in the second and third frames.
    Top hitters for Saltillo include: Christie Gurley, Jordan Sustaire, Kasey Sanders and Rainie English with two singles eachs. Melissa Tawil added a double, Melissa Groenewold and Shelby Matlock had one single each according to coach Colton Smith.
