Report, our Legislators are working hard on behalf of Hopkins County!
Thank you to everyone who went to Austin to represent Hopkins County, yesterday! We had a wonderful day. We had an official tour of the capitol (Ask someone about the Star); resolutions were presented on the House and Senate floors declaring April 1, 2009, as Hopkins County Day, and we were recognized on the floor. In the afternoon, we met with Rick Rhodes with the Department of Agriculture, Charlie Stone with the Office of Rural Community Affairs, Phil Russell with Texas Department of Transportation, our State Representative Mark Homer, our State Senator Bob Deuell, and Mr. Glynn from Texas Education Agency. A very special thank you to Sen. Bob Deuell and Rep. Mark Homer’s offices for planning our day!

On a personal note ...
This time last year was my first “unofficial” event with the Chamber of Commerce. I was hired the day before the golf tournament last year and I worked the golf tournament that next day! It was a wonderful day and has been a wonderful year! My first official day was actually not until June 1st, but I will always remember the golf tourney as my first day at the Chamber! Wow!
That’s all for now…have a GREAT week!
