Cookville murder suspect has charges enhanced

An 18-year-old Titus County woman who is suspected of participating in the death of two individuals, had her charges enhanced in the March 7 crime spree.

Cheyenne Hayle Bigelow had her charges enhanced to two counts of murder in addition to the aggravated robbery, possession of a controlled substance penalty group one, aggravated robbery and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charges she already faced, according to the Titus County Sheriff's Office.

Bigelow and her boyfriend, Michael LaPlace, allegedly were involved in the strangulation death of LaPlace’s grandfather and the shooting death of another relative, Johnny Burleson. In addition, LaPlace’s grandmother was attacked and another relative, Jerry Burleson (brother of Johnny) was bound and shot. Jerry Burleson shot LaPlace with a deer rifle to end the bloody ordeal.

According to the Titus County Sheriff Office, autopsy reports have not been released on the two murder victims or LaPlace.
