Cats host softball tourney starting Thursday

    The Sulphur Springs Lady Cats will host softball tournament competition this week at two locations.


    “We are hosting the tournament and we will be using our field as well as Coleman Park,” said David Carrillo, Lady Cats head softball coach. “A big shout out to the city for helping us make this happen.”
    Carrillo said, “We have 17 teams including us. Teams from as far away as Granbury and Fort Worth. We also have some district teams like Mount Pleasant and Texas High. We have a home school team with some local players. It should be a fun, challenging tournament for all.”
     Sulphur Springs will play all their games at the high school diamond.

Thursday
    Thursday games to be played at the SSHS field include - 9 a.m., Mount Pleasant vs. Gilmer; 10:45 a.m., Sulphur Springs vs. Gilmer; 12:30 p.m. McKinney vs. Mesquite Poteet; 2:15 p.m., Texas High vs. Mesquite Poteet; 5 p.m., Sulphur Springs vs. Royse City; 5:45 p.m., THESA Riders vs. McKinney.
    Thursday on Coleman Park field 1 - 9 a.m..- Mount Vernon vs. Caddo Mills; 10:45 a.m., Texas High vs. Royse City; 12:30 p.m., Mount Vernon vs. Omaha Paul Pewitt; 2:15 p.m., Granbury vs. Mount Pleasant; 4 p.m. Commerce vs. Winnsboro.
    Thursday games on Coleman Park field 2 - 9 a.m. Wills Point  vs. Winnsboro; 10:45 a.m., Fort Worth Christian vs. Commerce; 12:30 p.m. Wills Point vs. Caddo Mills; 2:15 p.m. vs. Omaha Paul Pewitt; 5:45 p.m., Granbury vs. Lone Oak.

Friday
    Friday games at SSHS - 10 a.m., Royse City vs. Fort Worth Christian; 11:45 a.m. Mount Pleasant vs. McKinney; 1:30 p.m., Sulphur Springs vs. Mesquite Poteet; 3:15 p.m. Sulphur Springs vs. Fort Worth Christian; 5 p.m. Granbury vs. Texas High.
    Friday at Coleman Park Field 1 - 10 a.m. Caddo Mills vs. Winnsboro; 11:45 a.m., Winnsboro vs. Omaha Paul-Pewitt; 1:30 p.m., Mount Vernon vs. Royse City; 3:15 p.m. Mount Pleasant vs. THESA Riders.
    Friday at Coleman Park Field 2 - 10 a.m. Mount Vernon vs. THESA Riders; 11:45 a.m., Commerce vs. Gilmer;; 1:30 p.m., Lone Oak vs. Gilmer; 3:15 p.m.. Caddo Mills vs. Granbury; 5 p.m.. Commerce vs. Omaha Paul-Pewitt.

Saturday
    Saturday games set for the SSHS field include - 10 a.m. Royse City vs. Mount Pleasant; 11:45 a.m., Sulphur Springs vs. McKinney; 1:30 p.m. Mesquite Poteet vs. Mount Pleasant; 3:15 p.m., Texas High vs. McKinney.
    On Coleman Park, Field 1, Saturday games include - 10 a.m., Fort Worth Christian vs. Mesquite Poteet; 11:45 a.m., Gilmer vs. Texas High; 1:30 p.m., THESA Riders vs. Granbury; 3:15 p.m. THESA Riders vs. Omaha Paul-Pewitt.
    Coleman Park Field 2 games Saturday include - 10 a.m. Wills Point vs. Mount Vernon; 11:45 a.m. Lone Oak vs. Caddo Mills; 1:30 p.m., Wills Point vs. Commerce; 3:15 p.m. Winnsboro vs. Lone Oak.
    Games will be played for 90 minute or seven innings, the 10-run rule after five innings will be used.
    The tournament director and chief umpire will determine playing conditions.
