Como-Pickton, Sulphur Bluff, Cumby and North Hopkins school districts have announced their plans to celebrate Texas Public Schools Week, March 9-13, with special designated activities.
Como-Pickton will be hosting Breakfast with the Teachers at 7 a.m. Tuesday, March 10, and Thursday, March 12. Head Start and pre-kindergarten through second grades will eat with teachers in the elementary cafeteria and high school students in the secondary cafeteria Tuesday. On Thursday, grades three through five will breakfast with teachers in the elementary cafeteria and middle school in the secondary cafeteria.
Also from 7:30 a.m. to 8 a.m. Tuesday and Thursday morning, parents of C-P elementary students may visit their childrens’ classrooms.
C-P Elementary Principal Randy Stuard, Junior High Principal Penny Armstrong and High School Principal Jeanne Lay invite all parents to visit their childrens’ classrooms or set up conferences with teachers throughout the week.
Administrators also welcome “all members of our learning community (parents, grandparents and community members) to come and join us for lunch this week,” they noted in a March 5 letter addressed to parents.

Sulphur Bluff Independent School District will observe Texas Public Schools Week Thursday, March 12, with an open house. Stew will be served beginning at 5:30 p.m. and classrooms will be open beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday.
The Bluff’s chapter of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America will also be hosting a silent auction of homemade baked goods during open house.
In order for teachers and staff to prepare and set up for open house, all classes at Sulphur Bluff will be dismissed at 1 p.m. Thursday.
Cumby Elementary also will be hosting an open house for its parents and students Thursday, March 12, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
North Hopkins Elementary will be hosting an open house Thursday, March 12, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. The PTO will also be hosting a talent show, called “North Hopkins’ Got Talent” from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Those attending the talent show are asked to bring a can of food in exchange for an admission fee.
