Tommy E. Marr
Funeral services for Tommy E. Marr, 80, of Tennessee Colony will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, at Bailey and Foster Chapel with Dan Manuel officiating.
Burial will follow in Tennessee Colony Cemetery with Masonic graveside rites accorded by the Tyre Masonic Lodge No. 198. Masons will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, at the funeral home.
Mr. Marr died Sunday, Aug. 24, 2014, at his residence.
He was born April 4, 1934, in Hubbard to Thurston and Marie Miars Marr.
Mr. Marr was a lifetime resident of Texas and the owner of Garland Oil and TBA Warehouse in Garland.
He served as a deacon of Tennessee Colony Church where he served on the church board and as building committee chairman.
Mr. Marr was an endowed member of the Tyre Masonic Lodge No. 198 for 22 years. He served as Past Master in 1998, District Deputy Grand Master for District No. 117 of the Grand Lodge of Texas 2001, Golden Trowel Recipient 2003, and was an Eastern Star Consolidated past patron.
Mr. Marr was instrumental in converting the old Tennessee Colony School to the current fully functional Community Center building, and served on the Farm Bureau Board.
Mr. Marr was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Peggy Marr in March 2014.
He is survived by his daughter Karen Branham and husband, Dwane, of Malakoff; a son, Jackie Marr of Tennessee Colony; sisters Patsy English of Austin and Anna Underwood and husband, David, of Garland; two granddaughters, Jennifer and Melissa; and seven great-grandchildren, Colton, Tommy, Kassidy, Kylee, Ryan, Rylie and Gabriel.
