Jason Keller recorded his second 900 four game scratch set of the 2014-2015 Summer session.
During men’s trio action this past Thursday night, Keller strung games of 268-226-256 to start the night and ended with a 198 for an impeccable 948 series. Keller moved his team to with-in one game of first place, with a 15 and 10 record.
Karen Gray, of Greenville, wiped out her competition Sunday night on her 578 three game scratch effort. Gray, leadoff bowler for the Got Robbed team, tossed games of 212, 173 and 193 to complete the set 77 pins above her average for series. Gray “robbed” her opponents of the four possible points up for grabs and boosted her team into sole possession of first place in the process.
David VanSickle took top-dog honors this week during the Monday Night Sport league with a solid 596 scratch series. VanSickle started the night slow but found a different mark at the start of the second game and managed to put together two notable games of 237 and 214. After ending the match a whopping 143 pins above his average for series, VanSickle clinched three points for his team, Oh SHNIT!. VanSickle’s efforts catapulted the trio into a five way tie for fourth place in the team standings.
Other notable efforts for the week ending August 14, 2014 included by league:
Sunday Night Mixed
Leading the men’s division this week was Kelly Shields rolling an outstanding 676 three game block. Shields’ set was also the high for the week for all the three-game format leagues. Shields shot out of the gate hot with scores of 232 and 235 and closed the evening with a respectable 209 to help his team take four points from the session.
Shields’ teammates, Wes Campbell and Alan Roberts, put together games of 190-192-199-201-245 to help ensure the team’s victory.
Malcolm Rogers ended Sunday’s competition well above his 175 individual average. The Got Robbed anchorman shot scores of 179, 221 and 188, enabling his team to chart the third high scratch series of the season thus far, with 2193 total pins.

Monday Night Sport
Jason Parmer finished Monday’s event with the second high series of the night collecting 578 total pins. Parmer nabbed scores of 227 and 200 to help his team take three points from the match.
Shayne Wilson has continuously been in the men’s top three week after week during Monday’s mixed play, and this week was no exception. Wilson, who struggled at the beginning of the set, bowled two solid games of 213 and 191 on his 188 individual average.
Joy Hoekstra bagged two points for her team, The Golden Girls, on her scores of 135, 143 and 141. Hoekstra’s 419 scratch series is her highest to date while competing in the Monday Night Sport league.
Tuesday Night Doubles
Rhonda Stephens led the women’s division this week, shooting a 522 scratch set while competing on lanes one and two. Stephens, leadoff bowler for team Ice It, also charted the women’s high game Tuesday night producing a 207 in the latter of the series. Stephen’s teammate, Justin Parmer, took note of his partner’s achievement and proceeded to fire the men’s high set of the evening. Parmer charted a 674 effort that also included the men’s high game of 247, enabling the pair to take all four points available for the evening.
The Neighbors team gave Stephens and Parmer a run for their money with their 1431 combined handicap series. Marlene and Billy Morris held nothing back stringing together games of 172-172-174-184 on their individual averages of 146 and 147. The couple went into Tuesday’s action with the most overall wins for the league, with 28 but was unable to hold of team Ice It edging them out with 29 total points.

Russell booked two great games of 202 and 194, while Parmer nailed games of 190 and 153 to move the duo into sole possession of seventh place in the team standings. We also promised that we would not tell that it was Chuck’s wife, Betty Russell, and her team that the pair demolished while competing in Tuesday’s Mixed league play. Shhh…..it’s a secret.
Thursday Men’s Trio
Bobby Matthews and his son Brian Matthews led their team to take four of the five possible points Thursday during Men’s Trio league action. Bobby paved the way to victory on his four game set of 216-224-214-194. Brian, paying close attention, followed his father’s lead shooting games of 213 and 218 on his 179 individual average. Brian’s 807 four game scratch set is his first of the summer session and Bobby’s 848 series was the third high of Thursday’s competition.
Mike Gilliland brought his “A” game Thursday night, something he has been lacking for a few weeks, charting an 843 scratch set on lanes seven and eight.
