Yantis Independent School District has scheduled a number of activities next week for students and their parents.

New students to Yantis ISD can register any time between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. weekdays. When registering, bring the child’s up-to-date shot records, Social Security card and school records.
Parents should pay special attention to new shot requirements if they have a student who is entering kindergarten through seventh grade. All incoming seventh graders must have two doses of the chicken pox vaccine as well as one dose of Tdap within the last five years. Kindergarten through fifth graders are also now required to have two doses of hepatitis A vaccine and two doses of the chicken pox vaccine as well.
YISD has also designated three days, for about an hour each, over the next week for Meet the Teacher on the various campuses. School supply lists are available at www.yantisisd.net by grade level for students from pre-kindergarten through fifth grade, and a general list for middle school students who may require additional items which the teacher will advise them about at the beginning of school.
Starting at 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 18, students starting at pre-kindergarten up through second grade and their parents can meet their teachers and drop off school supplies at the elementary.
Students in grades three through five and their parents can drop by the elementary at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19 to meet their teachers.
Meet the Teacher for middle and high school students (grades seven through 12) will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, at the secondary campus. High school students can also pick up their schedules during that time.
No changes have been made to transportation procedures. Parents can contact their student’s campus office for bus route information.
All campuses will start classes Monday morning, Aug. 25.
The dress code and other pertinent school guidelines and information, including the Student Handbook and Code of Conduct (under Teacher and Student Links), proposed budget (Required postings, Financial) and salary scales (Administration, Compensation Plan) can be found on the school website. The school board is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 25 to hold a public meeting and formally adopt the 2014-15 budget and tax rate.
