Wanda Ruth Phillips
Services for Wanda Ruth Phillips, 78, of Wills Point are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, at Eubank Funeral Chapel with Johnnie Herriage officiating, under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home in Canton.
Burial will be in Haven of Memories, Canton.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15, at the funeral home.
Wanda Phillips died Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2014, in Forney.
Mrs. Phillips was born Jan. 18, 1936, in Pine Forest, to Joe Bryan Williams and Gertrude Pogue Williams. They preceded her in death.
Mrs. Phllips grew up in Pine Forest and attended school in Pickton. At the age of 13, she played piano for a quartet in a radio show. She was a member of Hayden Baptist Church.
Mrs. Phillips attended East Texas State University, where she received her master’s degree. She then taught school for 28 years before retiring.
Survivors include husband Basil Phillips of Wills Point; sons Charles Phillips and wife, Deborah, and Billy Phillips and wife, Teresa, all of Terrell; grandchildren Robert Phillips, Derek Brown, Brandon Phillips, Cory Joe Phillips, Robin Dorman, Jamie Durbin and Caitlyn Phillips; great-grandchildren Dillon, Jaden, Brandice, C.J., Hayden and Averie; stepson Robert Phillips and wife, Kyra; stepdaughter, Linda O’Glee and husband, Calvin; and sisters, Mary Fite, Janis Morrison and Jo Carolyn Wyatt.
Wanda was also preceded in death by a daughter, Diana Phillips; brother Jimmy Williams; and granddaughter Brittany Phillips.
