Volleyball teams win in Eustace

    Sulphur Springs sub-varsity teams opened tournament play with a bang, going undefeated in Thursday volleyball action in Eustace.
    The ninth grade, coached by Jerrod Hammack, won three matches.

    The Lady Cats beat Fruitvale, 25-22, 25-15; then defeated Palmer, 25-15, 25-10 and whipped Red Oak Life, 25-12, 25-17.
    The junior varsity also won three matches. Sulphur Springs downed Alba-Golden 25-11, 25-21; popped Palmer 25-16, 25-11 and won in three sets over Live Oak Academy, 25-16, 21-25 and 15-11. The JV is coached by David Carrillo.
    Action in the tournaments continues through Saturday.
    The ninth grade now has a season slate of 4-1 while the Sulphur Springs freshmen are 3-2 on the year.
    The Sulphur Springs varsity will trek to Van for tournament action.
    The Lady Cats play Friday at 8:30 a.m. vs. Quitman; take on Athens at 10:30 a.m. and play Big Sandy at 1:30 p.m. according to Sulphur Springs head volleyball coach Allison Irvin.
