Football season is right around the corner and soon practices will turn into live action against another team.
Como-Pickton and Cumby both have scrimmage set as they prepare for the upcoming grid campaign.
The Eagles will host a three-way scrimmage Friday with Linden-Kindare and Fruitvale at Ron Heflin Field.
The junior varsity will start at 6 p.m. between Linden-Kildare and Como-Pickton.
Varsity action will start at 7 p.m.
No kicking will be done in this scrimmage.
“I hope to see our team execute well and it will be a time to evaluate our positions better,” said Conley Bland, Como-Pickton head football coach.
The Cumby Trojans will hold “Meet the Trojans” at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Frazier-Lawrence Stadium.
Cumby will host Price Carlisle in football scrimmage action at 11 a.m. Saturday.
“We will have no kicking in the scrimmage,” said Tom Dracos, Cumby head football coach.
“There will be a quick whistle on quarterbacks in pass situations. We have had a great week and a half. We are so far ahead of where we were last year. The kids are really excited about playing against another team,” Dracos said.
The second scrimmage for Cumby will be Aug. 22 at Dallas Gateway. Action will begin at 6 p.m.
The Trojans host Alba-Golden Aug. 29 at 7:30 p.m. to open the regular football season.
