Como-Pickton Consolidated Independent School District will begin registration for any student who is new to the district Monday, Aug. 11. Shot records for seventh graders will also be accepted starting Monday.
Parents can report to the appropriate campus — elementary, junior high or high school — from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays beginning Monday to register new students. They should bring their child’s birth certificate, Social Security card and up-to-date immunization records; as well as proof of residency, such as a water or other utility bill with the family’s physical address printed on it.
Seventh grade students must have proof they’ve had the required immunizations for their age/grade level in order to attend classes when school resumes Aug. 25.
Parents can bring their seventh graders’ record to the secretary in the junior high office between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. starting Monday, Aug. 11.
“If they have not shown proof they have had their immunizations on the first day of school they cannot come to school,” cautions CPJH Secretary Julie Baxter.
Parents who aren’t able to drop their seventh graders’ shot record by the school before classes start can fax the record to 903-488-2015.
According to Texas Department of State Health Services, students ages 11 to 15 are required to have two 10 mcg/1.0 ml doses of Hepatitis B vaccine, if the adult Hep B vaccine (Recombivax) was received. Dosage and type of vaccine must be clearly documented. If Recombivax is not the vaccine received, a three-dose series is required for students ages 11 to 15 years.
Students in seventh through 12th grades must have two doses of varicella vaccine and one dose of meningococcal vaccine.
Seventh graders must have one dose of Tdap (Diphtheria/Tetanus/Pertussis) vaccine if required if its been at least five years since the students’ last dose of tetanus-containing vaccine.
