Miller Grove Independent School District announced this week that new students can start registering for classes now.

Any new student can be registered at the high school office during regular business hours. To register, students will need the following items: a copy of the student’s birth certificate, Social Security card and up-to-date immunization records; a copy of the driver’s license of the person enrolling the student (a parent or guardian); and proof of family residency within the district via a utility bill with the physical address listed on it.

Parents and students can visit the school website, www.mgisd.net, to download school supply lists for pre-kindergarten through sixth grade students as well as the district calendar, and under the “Parental Information” tab can find the the code of conduct, student handbook (with dress code) and immunization information for all grade levels.

School supply lists for MG pre-k through sixth graders is also available at Walmart. Students in grades seven through 12 need to bring paper, a pen and pencil on the first day of school; any additional information regarding class requirements will be given at that time.

All Miller Grove students are to report for class Monday, Aug. 25. The first period tardy bell will ring at 8:15 a.m., so students should plan to be at school and in their classes before that time. The school day at MGISD ends at 3:20 p.m.

Elementary students and their parents will have an opportunity to meet the child’s teachers from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21. Junior high and high school students will be able to pick up their class schedules in the high school library during that time as well.

Teachers will report for in-service training starting at 8:30 a.m. daily Aug. 18-22.
