COMO — The shade was hard to find and the action was almost as hot as the temperatures Monday for the first day of practice at Como-Pickton.
The temperature was 90 degrees and climbing with the team working out under a cloudless sky at the high school field.
Close to 40 players were going through drills under the watchful eye of head coach Conley Bland.
Workouts for the Eagles are being held 4-7:15 p.m. each day. Friday the team gets to workout with pads as they prepare for the coming season.
The players were getting a chance to practice under several new coaches.
Added to the staff were Charles Swann -offensive coordinator and running backs coach; Marshall Moore coach for defensive ends and receivers. Moore recently coached at Sulphur Bluff.
Also Jimmy Smith, tight end and defensive line coach and Kevin Matheny, head junior high football and basketball coach.
