Sulphur Springs Middle School will be holding new student registration from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays Aug. 4-Aug. 25.
New student and sixth grade orientation and schedule pickup for sixth graders will begin at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, at SSMS. A general session for all SSMS students will begin at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, in the school gym. Seventh and eighth graders can meet their teachers and pick up schedules at 4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, at SSMS.
New Sulphur Springs Independent School District teachers will report for duty beginning Tuesday, Aug. 12, for two days of orientation. The rest of SSISD staff will participate in staff preparation days Thursday-Friday, Aug. 14-15, and Monday-Friday, Aug. 18-22 and Monday, Aug. 25.
All SSISD students will report for classes Tuesday morning, Aug. 26.
Saturday, Aug. 9, the Sulphur Springs High School Class of 2016 Back to School 5K Color Run will begin at 7 a.m. on the downtown square. The fee to enter is $25, plus a school supply to benefit local school children. Online registration and payment available at www.racechiptiming.com.
School supply lists for pre-kindergarten through SSMS students are available at local stores as well as on the school website: ssisd.net.
Starting Aug. 11, families of SSISD students can fill out and submit online meal applications for free and reduced meals in order to receive a faster response from SSISD Child Nutrition Department. A link will be available at www.ssisd.net in one week.
Also, SSHS students who still need to make course changes can stop by the school and see their counselor between 8:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on the designated day this week for their grade level. Freshmen can stop by Monday, sophomores Tuesday, juniors Wednesday and seniors Thursday. Not sure which counselor to see? Students whose last names begin with a letter from A to G will see Karey Brice, H to O will see Carol Cowley and letters P to Z are assigned to Leslie Harred.
Changes to course requests made after these scheduled dates and times at SSHS are not be guaranteed to be granted. SSHS counselors intend to limit the number of schedule changes that are allowed after classes begin on Aug. 26.
All SSHS students will pick up their class schedules Monday, Aug. 25. from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the school.
