Funeral services for Karen Pickett, 63, of Sulphur Springs will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 1, in Spence Chapel at First Baptist Church, with Pastor Mark Bryant and the Rev. Fred Lewis officiating.
Interment will follow in the Restlawn Memorial Park with Brandon Burks, Keith Bell, Aaron Pickett, Mike Hudson, Mike Ballard and Robert Harkins serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, July 31, 2014, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Mrs. Pickett died Monday, July 28, 2014, at her residence.
She retired from Sulphur Springs ISD, where she worked in the Lamar Elementary cafeteria.
She was born Nov. 14, 1950, the daughter of Simon Green and Betty Lou Kelley Thompson in Dallas. They preceded her in death.
She married Billy Jack Pickett on June 29, 1974, in Sulphur Springs. He survives.
Other survivors include daughters Letitia Hughes and Amy Burks and husband, Brandon, all of Sulphur Springs; sisters Lyn Harkins of Columbia, S.C., and Judy Mills of Winnsboro; brother Richard Thompson of Winnsboro; and grandchildren Scott and Robert King, Emma and Annette Hughes, Brenda and Madeline Burks and Raylene Burks.
She was also preceded in death by a son, David Lee Pickett.
Memorials may be made to Youth Choir Ministries for First Baptist Church of Sulphur Springs or First Baptist Church of Mount Vernon.
