Sulphur Bluff Independent School District is losing its superintendent to North Lamar Independent School District.

SBISD Superintendent John McCullough has been named the lone finalist for the superintendent’s job at North Lamar ISD, school staff confirmed Wednesday.
Trustees at NLISD announced McCullough as their superintendent finalist following a 30-minute executive session Monday, The Paris News reported. McCullough is expected to sign his contract with NLISD following the requisite 21-day waiting period following the announcement.
McCullough was selected by SBISD trustees in 2011 to fill the superintendent position when Robin Ross left to take a job as superintendent in Mansfield, Ark.
McCullough brought 17 years of experience with him when he assumed the role as superintendent at the Bluff. He worked for 11 years at Sulphur Springs Independent School District, where he served as coach, educator and from 2007-2011 as high school principal.
In August 2008, McCullough was named Texas Association of Secondary School Principals’ Region VIII Outstanding Principal of the Year.
