Sarah Weatheread takes over as Cover Girl for current year

    Due to personal issues, Cassidy Williams had to resign as the Hopkins County Fall Festival 2013-2014 Cover Girl.  

    As stated in the rules and regulations of the Cover Girl contest, when the reigning Cover Girl steps down, the first runner-up will then move up to fulfill the title and duties of the Cover Girl.
    The new reigning 2013-2014 Cover Girl is Sarah Weatheread, the  daughter of John and Melissa Weatheread of Tira. Sara will be a senior this fall at North Hopkins High School.
    As the Cover Girl, Sarah will attend ribbon cuttings, After Hours business mixers and other civic events.
    Sarah will also receive a $1,000 Scholarship.
    Sarah is active in Hopkins County 4-H, UIL, BETA Club, and as a Lady Panther playing volleyball and softball.
    After graduation, Sarah plans to attend Texas A&M-Commerce and obtain a degree and teaching certificate.
    With Sarah moving up to the Cover Girl position, Karson Goggans of Cumby becomes the first runner-up. Karson will receive a $750 Scholarship.
    Karson, the daughter of Jennifer and Bo Bratton and Kris and Alisha Goggans, will be a senior at Cumby High School this fall. She was the junior class president, invited to be in the BETA Club, a member of the A Honor Roll and participates in UIL.
    She is a champion barrel racer in the Texas High School Rodeo Association, Texas Junior Rodeo Association and Winners. She is a member of UPRA. She is also a junior instructor at Gold Buckle Barrel.
    After graduation, Karson plans to attend Tarleton State University to pursue a degree in nursing.
    The Hopkins County Fall Festival is Oct. 18 through Oct. 25. The new Cover Girl for 2014-2015 will be named during the concert on Saturday, Oct. 25.
