COMMERCE – The Texas A&M-Commerce athletics department will be hitting the road once again this summer for the second annual Safari Tour, beginning June 23 and scheduled for stops throughout Texas.
"The Safari Tour is a huge opportunity for us as a department to directly connect and interact with and engage our fan base," Director of Athletics Ryan Ivey said. "We were able to introduce this event last summer and fully expect to continue to see it grow and improve, just as we expect to see our teams continue to grow and improve on the field of competition."
The tour began in Houston on June 23, immediately followed the next day by a stop in Austin on June 24 and San Antonio on June 26. Location stops will also include Tyler (July 8), Fort Worth (July 9), Frisco (July 10) and Sulphur Springs (July 12) before closing out in Greenville and Commerce. Exact dates and locations for the Greenville and Commerce stops are still being finalized, but will occur in August.
The Lion Safari Tour is another extension of the Athletic Department's continued effort to reach out to alumni, fans and supporters across Texas. Each stop will include a reception and the chance to hear directly from coaches and department personnel about the latest happenings in Lion Athletics.
Each event is free to the public and will include light hors d'oeurves, with the exception of a $10 ticket to attend the Frisco Rough Rider game on July 10. Fans are encouraged to RSVP prior to the Frisco event.
