Four players from Hopkins County — three from Sulphur Springs and one from North Hopkins — were named honorable mention on the All-State softball team selected by the Texas Sports Writers Association.
For Sulphur Springs, pitcher Katie Sapaugh, first baseman Kasey Moore and outfielder Makayla Glosson were all voted honorable mention. For North Hopkins, shortstop Baile Gammill was selected.
Moore, a junior who was the District 14-4A Offensive MVP, hit .500 for the year, while committing just one fielding error. She led the team with 33 RBI; she had six homers, two triples and six doubles with 39 total hits.
Sapaugh, a senior right-handed hurler, earned district co-pitcher honors going 21-7 for the Lady Cats. She had 171 strikeouts in 191 innings posting a 1.60 earned run average.
Glosson, a junior, was a first team All-District selection as well.
Gammill was named Defensive MVP of District 16-A while playing shortstop.
