An attempted robbery was reported early Monday at a local hotel. A LaQuinta Inn worker reported being assaulted by a man who tried to take her jewelry and keys.
The woman said the criminal attempt at robbery occurred in the early morning hours before dawn when she was starting breakfast preparations at the hotel.
She said she initially heard a banging noise at a side door. When she went to see if a guest had been locked out, she was reportedly dragged outside by a man who hit her in the face, threw her to the ground and tried to take her phones out of her hand, according to police reports.
The man reportedly tried to get the hotel keys and the lanyard from around her neck and to take her wedding ring from her finger. She reportedly fought back, kicking and pushing at him until he let go and ran. She sustained scratches and redness on her arm, bruising on one leg and swelling and redness around one eye, offense reports noted.
The suspect was described as a male in his late 30s, about five feet, 10 inches tall, of stocky build, has a mustache that hangs past his mouth and a tattoo on his neck, according to reports.
