Trustees earlier this week approved more than two dozen staff recommendations, including 18 new hires and six resignations, which impact nearly all campuses within Sulphur Springs Independent School District.

At Bowie Primary School, Colby Smith resigned as second grade teacher. Alison Ramsey was hired to fill the second grade opening and Yeni Sanchez will serve as Title I aide at Bowie Primary.
Angela Zahn resigned as secretary at Lamar Primary School; Shakena Godbolt was hired to fill that opening.
At Early Childhood Learning Center, Ayana Pryor was hired as a Head Start 3 and prekindergarten aide.
Ashlie Tiscornia resigned as special education aide at Sulphur Springs Elementary School. Joining the SSES staff will be Tiffany Ramsey as a special education aide, and Whitney Vaughan and Lisa Watkins as fourth grade teachers.
Also at the elementary level, Jeanine Boyett resigned as district-wide elementary librarian.
Hired to teach at Douglas Intermediate School was Kristina Puentes as a fifth grade bilingual teacher and Clarissa Willis as a fifth grade teacher.
Longtime teacher Sharla Evans resigned as sixth grade English language arts and reading teacher at Sulphur Springs Middle School. Hired at SSMS as special education teachers were Jennifer Allen and Mary Wallace, as a special education aide was Jordan Tyler, Randy Doo as head band director, and Cameron Warren as physical education teacher and coach.
Warren is filling an opening created with John McSheffery’s reassignment from SSMS physical education teacher and coach to Sulphur Springs High School, where he will teach math and serve as a coach.
Also at SSHS, Hope Anthony resigned as math teacher, a position Whitney McDaniel was hired to fill. Desiree Pharis was hired for the new position of theatre arts tech teacher and Jarret Wilson was hired as technology specialist at SSHS.
Rounding out the personnel changes approved following an executive session at the June 24 special called meeting of Sulphur Springs Independent School District Board of Trustees was the hiring of Shannon Clements as an instructional aide at Austin Academic Center and the summer contract extended to Andrew Pickles.
