The deadline for girls to sign up to compete in the Hopkins County Fall Festival Cover Girl Contest has been extended to July 11.
“We do not have enough contestants to have a full competition. We have a few girls from some of the county schools, but nobody from Sulphur Springs, nor did we last year,” said Tracy Dennis, contest coordinator, noting that the fewer the contestants the greater each contestant’s “chance of winning scholarship money. Not a bad pay off for a little hard work!”
Contestants compete for the title as well as scholarships and gift cards. The girl named Hopkins County Fall Festival Cover Girl 2014 will receive a $1,000 scholarship and a $100 Walmart gift card, and have her picture in the Fall Festival catalog. The first runner-up will receive a $750 scholarship and a $75 Walmart gift card. If there are more than six contestants, the second runner-up will receive a $500 scholarship and a $50 Walmart gift card.
The Cover Girl Contest is open to any young lady who will be entering their junior year of high school this August.
Each contestant must pick up a packet from the Hopkins County Regional Civic Center office and turn the completed packet in by noon Friday, July 11, along with the $30 entry fee and a clear, printable headshot picture which will be used in the Fall Festival brochure. The contest is structured for up to as many as 12 contestants.
