Kevin and Dee Melton are excited to announce the birth of their first grandchild, Kamille Ann Walker. Parents are Micah and Kaleigh Walker of Fredericksburg. Kamille was born June 16, 2014, weighed

pounds 8 ounces and was 19.5 inches long. Kamille is also loved by grandparents Greg and Kris Walker of Bullard and David and Becky Janota of Gonzales. Great-grandparents are Dean and Margaret Eudy of Cooper, Patricia Sparks of Sulphur Springs, Millie Janota of Gonzales, Tempie Nueman of Blanco, Barbara Walker of Marble Falls and Larey and DeLeen Melton of Commerce.

Sherry Smiddy spent five days in Chicago last week. She says, “The weather was beautiful — no snow which is a good thing but lots of wind, but what else do you expect in the Windy City.”

She said there are too many nice restaurants to name, but she enjoyed tapas and sushi.

She quips, “Working always gets in the way while I am there, but I love that city.”

Mick and Linda Petty returned Friday evening from a “great and very beautiful two-week road trip.” They went through Colorado, then to Salt Lake City where they toured the Olympic Village.

They then spent two days at Lake Tahoe just sight seeing and doing a little gambling. From there, it was on to San Francisco, where they drove through Napa Valley (the wine country) and back down highway 1 along the Pacific coast. Day two was spent at Alcatraz and Angel Island. After two days in San Francisco, it was on to the Sequoia National Forest to see the giant trees, then to Bakersfield, Calif. – then home.

Linda said they saw some of the most beautiful scenery and the weather was perfect on the entire trip. She comments that it was fun but they were glad to get home.

Don't forget about the upcoming Tira homecoming on Sunday, July 6. The program and business meeting will be held in the Tira Methodist Church at 11 a.m., with a covered dish luncheon at the picnic tables following the program.
