SS teams advance in summer play

    The Sulphur Springs American All-Stars fought back from an early loss to take second place in the recent Dixie Coach Pitch District Tournament held at Coleman Park.
    The Paris Americans, a team which downed the Sulphur Springs Americans to start the event, were the eventual wins in the tournament.

    The Paris squad and the Sulphur Springs Americans will play in the state tournament starting July 5 in Texarkana.
    Also in the tournament, but not qualifying were the Sulphur Springs Nationals and Fannin County Nationals.
    In other action involving Sulphur Springs teams - the boys T-ball team, coached by Zach Burney, went undefeated in recent action in Broken Bow, Okla. They will advance to state in Lindale, July 5.
    Other Sulphur Springs teams continue in baseball and softball district and state tournaments. All coaches are urged to email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.     Sulphur Springs will host more games starting Friday at Coleman Park in boys Dixie baseball competition.
    Coleman Park will be also host the state Dixie softball tournament for Angels (9-10 year olds) and the Belles (13-15 year olds) starting on July 12.
