Registration for the Hopkins County Fall Festival Cover Girl Contest is under way, but the deadline looms. Hopkins County ladies who will be entering their junior year of high school in August who would like to sign up will need to do so by noon on Friday, June 27.
Qualifications for competing are in the packets that can be picked up at the office at Hopkins County Regional Civic Center. All contestants will need to turn in a $30 entry fee, complete application, and a clear and printable head-shot photo to be used in the 2014 Fall Festival brochure by the deadline. Participation is limited to 12 contestants; no applications will be accepted after the deadline.
Contestants will compete for scholarships and prizes. The winner will receive a $1,000 scholarship and a $100 Wal-mart gift card, and her picture will be in the Fall Festival brochures. She will also represent her school and county at various civic events over the next year.
First runner-up will receive a $750 scholarship and a $75 Wal-mart gift card, and if there are more than six contestants, the second runner-up will receive a $500 scholarship and a $50 Wal-mart gift card.
A 4 p.m. meeting will be held Sunday, June 29, at Pizza Inn for the contestants and their parents and/or guardians. The girls will draw their contestant numbers, give their T-shirt sizes, get their folders with information in it, and go over everything they are expected to do as a contestant at the June 29 meeting. Everyone should read over the information in the packets and ask any questions they may have at the meeting.
