Memorial services for Melvin Ray Clapper, 67, of Sulphur Springs formerly of Winnsboro, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 9, in Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Kyle Ray officiating.
There will be no formal visitation.
Melvin Ray Clapper died Thursday, June 5, 2014, at his residence.
He was born Oct. 12, 1946, in Hominy, Okla., the son of George and Gracie York Clapper. They preceded him in death.
He married Karen Kendrick. She preceded him in death in 2001.
Mr. Clapper was a retired derrick hand in the oil fields.
He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include sons William Franklin Bixler Jr., and wife, Marla, of Bartelsville, Okla., and Patrick Charles Bixler and wife, Janelle, of Coffeyville, Kan.; daughter Valerie RayLynn Clark and husband, Cal, of Sulphur Springs; two sisters, Peggy Dunsmore of Fort Myers, Fla., and Debbie Nichols of Sulphur Springs; eight grandchildren, Madison, Dakota and Zachary Clark, Crystal and Jessica Bixler, Brandon Cleveland, Sarah and Emily Bixler; and two great-grandchildren, Leim and Lexi Cleveland.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Frank Clapper and a sister, Betty Mick
