    ROUND ROCK — The Hallsville Bobcats lost their dream of a state baseball title, falling 9-1 to Aledo in the Class 4A semifinals Thursday night.
    Connor Reich was the losing pitcher.


    Victoria East defeated Richmond George Ranch, 4-1.
    Aledo and Victoria East meet today at 7 p.m. in the state 4A finals at the Dell Diamond in Round Rock.

Kopech
drafted
    Mount Pleasant standout right-handed pitcher Michael Kopech was drafted in the first round in the Major League Baseball amateur draft. The Boston Red Sox used the  No. 33 overall pick on Kopech.
    Kopech, a 6-3, 195-pounder was one of 20 pitchers taken in the first round.
    During his senior year at Mount Pleasant had 143 strikeouts in 74.2 innings.
