Another busy week in the Grove as the month of May has ended and June has begun!

Sunday night was baccalaureate services for Miller Grove High School graduates at the Miller Grove United Methodist Church. Bro. Ronald Davis (also MGHS teacher) delivered the message. This is his third year in a row to preach the Baccalaureate service. I was unable to attend but I’m sure he did a very nice job.

Still more teachers leaving the school with other career opportunities for 2014-15. Lindsey (Watson) Cipoletta has accepted a job at Sulphur Springs Independent School District and Julie Smith will be retiring from the classroom to take an office job at North Hopkins ISD. So far that is a total of 7 of the faculty and staff that have turned in resignations this year. That is almost as large as the turn-over last year with eight people either retiring or seeking other employment opportunities.

Happy birthday this week to Jaycie Arledge and Marlene Sturdevant on June 1, Lewis Russell and Dakota Hrabal on June 2, Mac Garrett and Tracy Clem on June 3, Randy Ragan on June 5, and Halston Potts on June 6.

Happy anniversary to Demp and Marlene Sturdevant and Stephen and Fran Sparks on June 1. Jackie and Lisa (Renshaw) Oler will celebrate 37 years of marriage on June 3. Happy 55th wedding anniversary to Don and Jerri (Byrd) Petty on June 5. Lynn and Linda Johnson will celebrate their 46th anniversary on June 7.

Thursday night will be Miller Grove Junior High Graduation at 7 p.m. in the High School Gymnasium. The High School Commencement Exercises will also be conducted in the gym at 7 p.m. but are scheduled for Friday night. I haven’t heard who will deliver the address for either event but I’m sure the program will be good.

As you travel the highways and byways don’t forget that all roads lead back home and back to Miller Grove. Please send me any newsworthy information. My email address is  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
