The Tira City Council met on Tuesday night at the Tira Community Center for their regular quarterly meeting. The group discussed routine business.

About 40 people gathered at the Aiguier Cemetery on Sunday, June 1, for the annual memorial luncheon and business meeting.

Robert, Yvonne, and Wesley Weir spent Saturday night in Dallas. Their daughter, Dacy, and the kids visited and swam with them. On Sunday they visited their son, Dustin, and his wife, Natalie, on their way home.

The North Hopkins High School graduation will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 7. Eighth graders will graduate on Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. Kindergarten graduation is at 8:30 a.m. on June 5 and pre-kindergarten will have a reception in their classrooms at 9:30 a.m. Pre-k and kindergarten round-up days are June 4 and 5. Students enrolling and their parents are invited to visit the classrooms between 12:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.

It's almost time for the annual Tira Homecoming, which will be held on Sunday, July 6. The program and business meeting will be held at 11 a.m. in the Tira Methodist Church, followed by a pot-luck lunch at the picnic tables on the grounds. Make plans to attend and share memories. Contributions toward the upkeep of the cemetery are always appreciated. Donations can given on that day or may be mailed to the Tira Cemetery Association, c/o Floyd Payton, 1601 County Road 4612, Sulphur Springs, Texas 75482.

Our grandson, Morgan Joslin, celebrated his 16th birthday on June 2nd, with tacos and cake at our house. Guests helping him celebrate were Tiffany, Landon, Kenden and Jaidyn Joslin and Jacob, Tyler and Collin Peugh. After the meal, the men and boys (even Jaidyn) enjoyed a skeet shoot. Morgan had been treated to a meal at Razoo's in Tyler with his dad, Malcolm Joslin, and his friend Tanja, on Saturday. They also went to the mall and Andy's Custard. Probably his most exciting part of his birthday was getting his drivers license!

Jaidyn Joslin enjoyed a sleep-over with her cousins Rachel Davidson and Natalie Vaughn at Rachel's house on Friday night for Rachel's seventh birthday. Rachel is the daughter of Landon and Amie (Vaughn) Davidson. Kenden Joslin spent the weekend with his cousins in Sulphur Springs. On Saturday,Tiffany Joslin met her friend Stephanie in Plano and they shopped, ate, visited and got their nails done.
