At least one motorcyclist was flown to an area trauma center after a collision on the south Interstate 30 service road in Cumby Sunday afternoon.

County dispatchers sent Cumby police and Cumby and Hopkins County firefighters just after 12:25 p.m. to  Interstate 30 east at the 110 mile marker, where 911 callers reported a crash involving a motorcycle and a truck. Callers told dispatchers that at least one person was  “bleeding badly and unconscious” at the scene. Emergency medical services personnel also responded.

According to Cumby Police Chief Scotty Sewell, the motorcyclist was traveling east on the south I-30 service road in Cumby and a pickup truck was traveling west. The driver of the truck didn’t see the motorcyclist before turning into a private driveway, causing a collision.

It appeared the biker, thought to be from Indiana, sustained head injuries. A medical helicopter was requested to fly the motorcyclist to an area trauma center, according to reports.

No further information about the crash, including biker’s condition, were available Monday morning.
