Consolidation of some voting boxes leads to confusion

E-mail Print PDF

A consolidation of polling places in the county apparently resulted in quite a bit of confusion Tuesday among voters who were trying to cast ballots in the runoff elections for both political parties.
In one case, voters in boxes 1-A and 1 were directed to go to “City Hall, 125 South Davis,” which is the old city hall building. Instead, some voters were going to the new city hall on Davis at Connally streets to vote and were mistakenly told to go to the Public Library, where early voting was conducted.
Voting in the runoff elections for both the Republican and Democratic parties ends at 7 p.m. today.
The list of consolidated polling places, published on Hopkins County Clerk’s website are:
n Voting boxes 1A - City Hall and 1-Lutheran Church vote in the City Municipal Building [old City Hall], 125 South Davis St.
n Voting boxes 2-VFW, 2A-Senior Citizens Building and 8-Reilly Springs vote at VFW Women’s Building, 1 Veterans Drive.
