After careful consideration , reviewing income and expenses, we feel there is a need to close the Brashear Community Center. We would like to hear any feed back regarding this issue. Please feel free to contact Linda Almon at 903-994-2993 or Carolyn Vaughan at 903-582-2269.
There are various garage sale items at the Brashear Community Center. We will have a sale on Saturday, May 24. Stop by and check it out. Time will be 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Brenda Dodd called me to say that they attended the graduation of their granddaughter, Sarah Lightfoot, last Saturday. She graduated from the University of North Texas with a psychology degree and a 3.5 grade point average.. She is the daughter of Angela and Jay Lightfoot from Springtown, Texas. Then the weekend of May 24, Sarah will be getting married in Hawaii to Austin Bunker. Very happy time for the Dodd and Lightfoot family.
The weather is very crazy lately. We had 3 inches last Thursday and 0.5 inch on Monday. Our hay needs cutting but too much rain. Pools are full.
Sorry to hear of the loss of those two young men last week. I would also like to express my condolences to the Nix family on their loss of Joyce Nix. I worked with Joyce for many years at the high school and she was a great individual.
Garden is doing well with all of the rain. Tom's only complaint is that the weeds are getting ahead of him. We have eaten spinach, lettuce, onions, radishes (red and white), beet greens, turnip greens, mustard greens, and swiss chard. I will be canning beet pickles real soon.
The weather has not helped our roads locally. We are finding a lot of new potholes. My grandkids think our road is now a roller coaster. I have to convince them that we do not drive fast now because it can hurt the truck. I am such a party pooper.
The end of school is coming soon. I do not know if anyone else has noticed but when you retire time seems to speed by.
