PITTSBURG — Two teachers from Sulphur Springs Middle School and three from North Hopkins Independent School District were among the math and science teachers recognized this spring by Region 8 Education Service Center in Pittsburg and Texas Regional Collaborative as TRC Mentor Teachers during the 2013-14 school year.
SSMS honorees included Terri Rae Azulene and Kelly Shutt. Azulene is a science teacher and Shutt a math teacher at Sulphur Springs Middle School.
North Hopkins ISD honorees included Lorrie Farris, Donna Brown and Danna Lewis. Farris is an elementary teacher, while Lewis is a high school science teacher and Brown teaches high school math.
As a member of this collaborative, each teacher completed more than 100 hours of professional development in the past eight months.
In addition to recognition from the Texas Regional Collaborative, they also received recognition from the offices of U.S. Senator John Cornyn, Texas State Senator Robert Deuell, M.D., and Texas State
Representative Dan Flynn for their contributions to education.
Sulphur Springs ISD Superintendent Michael Lamb, and North Hopkins ISD Superintendent Donna George and Principals Rob Stanley and LeAnm Tadlock were on hand to help commend these dedicated educators for going above and beyond normal requirements to help students meet their educational challenges.
