North Hopkins High School sophomore Allegra Thomas qualified for state by not only placing but capturing gold in two events at the regional academic UIL meet last weekend.

Thomas won first place honors in both literary criticism and feature writing at both the district and regional academic UIL meets, earning the right to compete during the May 19-21 state academic UIL contest in Austin.

She continues to be a “student of high standards” while maintaining a very busy schedule, according to a press release from NH Independent School District.

In addition to UIL, Thomas is also a member of Beta Club, takes honors courses, is on the yearbook staff and plays volleyball and basketball.

She is the daughter of Janis and Woodrow Thomas. She has attended NHISD since pre-kindergarten, and two years ago was the third sibling in her family to become the eighth-grade valedictorian.
