Friday night was a tough one for Sulphur Bluff teams.
Both the Bears and Lady Bears were eliminated from postseason action.

Sam Rayburn 11,
 Sulphur Bluff 1
PARIS — In the second game of the Class 1A, Region II softball playoffs, the Lady Bears were downed 11-1 in action played in Paris.
“We played well, we just did not hit the ball as well as they did. Sam Rayburn is a really good team,” said Cherry Krantz, Sulphur Bluff head softball coach.
The lone bright spot for the Lady Bears was a solo homer by Morgan Krantz.
“She got all of it and hit it to centerfield,” Krantz said. “Too bad nobody was on base.”
Krantz continued, “We never got a break in the game.”
Skylar Evans was tagged with the loss, throwing a complete game for the Lady Bears.
The contest was the last high school outing for seniors  Kaci Powers, Cheyenne Bryant and Maycee Potts.
The Lady Bears won district, posting an 8-0 record.
Sam Rayburn took the first game of the playoff series Thursday, 16-0.

Avery 7, Sulphur Bluff 1
MOUNT PLEASANT — For the second straight game, Avery pitching dominated.
Avery pitcher Zack Lankford threw a no-hitter as the Bulldogs won 7-1 in Game 2 of a best-of-three baseball playoff series. Avery won the first game 2-0 behind a perfect game.
“Avery has good pitching. Lankford was hitting his spots and kept us guessing with a fastball and good off speed pitch,” said Blake Hill, Sulphur Bluff head baseball coach. “It’s hard to win if you don’t get a hit. We just did not hit. We had good defense.”
Sulphur Bluff, 14-6, finished second in district.
The game was the final high school tilt for Sulphur Bluff seniors Tyler Raine, Landon Dorner and Erin Zeringue.
Hill added, “We won district last year, we made the playoffs this year. We are trying to establish a tradition. I am proud of the team, all the credit goes to the boys.”
