SSHS hosting
playoff games
    The Sulphur Springs fields will be used for playoff games. Softball: Van vs. Pleasant Grove, Friday, 4 p.m., Game 3 to follow, if needed.
    Baseball, Rains vs. North Lamar, Friday 7:30 p.m., Saturday, noon; Game 3 if needed

play days
   Basketball play days in May for area players include:
  May 3  - Detroit play day 5/6, 7/8 boys and girls.  one gym.
   May 3 - Mount Vernon playday 3/4 through varsity boys and girls.
   May 10  - Mount Vernon playday 3/4 through varsity boys and girls.
  May 15 - Grand Saline League May 15, 22, 29 and ,June 5, 12, 19, 26.
   May 17 - Chapel Hill Mount Pleasant  play day 3/4 thru varsity boys girls.
   May 24 - Sabine play day 7/8 through varsity boys and girls

SSHS sports
   The Sulphur Springs Athletic Banquet will be Monday, May 5 at the high school cafeteria at 6 p.m..

   Tickets are $8 and available at the door.
   Big Smith’s barbecue will be served.

 The Sulphur Springs 7-on-7 has been released.
 May 3 — Van JH tournament (7th, 8th grade), first game 9 a.m.
  May 13 — Gilmer at Sulphur Springs, (7th, 8th, JV, V)
  May 17 — Gilmer Tournament, (7th, 8th, JV, V)
   May 20 — Sulphur Springs at Paris (7th, 8th, JV, V)
  May 31 — Mesquite State Qualifer (varsity only)
   May 31- Paris JH tournament (7th, 8th grade).

Cumby playoffs
open today vs.
Simms Bowie
    The Cumby Trojans secured a postseason berth and will meet Simms Bowie in the playoffs for a best-of-three bi-district baseball series.
    Game 1 is in Cumby today at 4:30 p.m.; Game 2, Saturday at Simms at 1 p.m. and Game 3 will follow, if needed.
    Top hitters for Cumby include Chase Vaughan with a .485 average while Dustin Heer is hitting .480.
    Vaughan is 5-1 as a pitcher, Jim Evans has a 5-2 record, Cody Anderson 3-1 and Travis Taylor is 3-0.

C-P banquet
    The Como-Pickton athletic banquet will be at 6 p.m. Monday at the high school cafeteria according to athletic director Conley Bland.
