Teams in softball, baseball playoffs

Playoff games are scheduled for several teams nearby with a number of schools represented in postseason action in either baseball or softball.
    Sulphur Bluff is pulling off a rare double, the Bears and Lady Bears are both still playing.

    The Sulphur Bluff baseball and softball teams are in the playoffs.
    The Bears play Avery in a best-of-three series. Game 1, Thursday at Prairiland, 6 p.m.; Game 2, Friday at Mount Pleasant Chapel Hill, 6 p.m.; Game 3, if needed, at Prairiland, 7 p.m.
    The Lady Bears won district with an 8-0 record.
    The Lady Bears play Sam Rayburn in the area playoffs, all games at the Paris city complex (field 4), Game 1, Thursday at 6 p.m., Game 2, Friday at 6 p.m. and Game 3, 30 minutes after end of  Game 2 if necessary.
     In other  competition -   the Cumby Trojans earned a postseason berth and will meet Simms Bowie in the playoffs for a best-of-three bi-district baseball series.
    Game 1 is in Cumby Friday at 4:30 p.m.; Game 2, Saturday at Simms at 1 p.m. and Game 3 will follow, if needed.
    The North Hopkins Panthers are in the playoffs. They will play a foe to be decided.
    They were the undefeated winners of district with a 14-0 record. The team is state-ranked under head coach Tim Henderson.
    The North Hopkins Lady Panthers and the Saltillo Lady Lions both made the softball playoffs but have been eliminated, taking losses in recent games.
