Several local school districts have amended their calendars to make up days missed due to bad weather earlier this year.
Some districts, including Sulphur Springs, Cumby and Miller Grove, were in class Good Friday making up one day missed due to inclement weather.
North Hopkins made up missed days on Jan. 21 and April 17, and has applied for waivers for the other missed days so they won’t have to use May 23 and May 26 as make-up days, school staff said Wednesday.
Cumby, Sulphur Bluff and Miller Grove will have class Friday, May 23, to make up a another day.
Miller Grove, Como-Pickton, Saltillo and Sulphur Bluff will also have class on Monday, May 26. Como-Pickton, Saltillo and Sulphur Bluff will be making up a bad weather day. Miller Grove ISD will be in class May 26 “to make up the Friday we closed school to attend the basketball state tournament,” according to MGISD Superintendent Steve Johnson.
Sulphur Springs will make up the second day the school missed due to bad weather on Thursday, June 5.
Como-Pickton Consolidated ISD will made up their second bad weather day on Friday, June 6.
Saltillo ISD won’t officially finish up the school year until June 9.
“We added a day to the end because most of our kids (all who passed their state tests) will get out of school on the 26th because of our optional flexible year plan approved by TEA,” notes Saltillo ISD Superintendent Kevin Woolley.
Yantis ISD is waiting to hear from the Texas Eduction Agency on a waiver request before announcing their new schedule.
