SULPHUR SPRINGS – Local bluesman Diamond Jack Holdsworth will be performing at Reed’s Entertainment with his family band, the Birthright Blues Project, Saturday, April 19. Doors open at 6 p.m. The performance begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10.
“It’s really great to get to perform in my hometown,” Diamond Jack’s 12-year-old son, D.R. said. “It’s an amazing opportunity to share our music with the people of Sulphur Springs.”
D.R. who plays guitar and sings for the blues band, made his debut at the King Biscuit Blues Festival in Helena, Ark. last October.
His 17-year-old sister, Dani, is the band’s drummer. Diamond Jack’s wife, Elan Holdsworth, plays bass.
“I have always enjoyed playing music with my husband,” Holdsworth said. “Now, we are having a lot of fun playing with the kids.”
Elan and Diamond Jack have been playing the blues for over a decade, recently taking a break from performing to help their children hone their playing skills.
“D.R. has been around musicians since he was knee high,” said Diamond Jack. “He is quite a charismatic performer in spite of his young age. We are very proud of him and excited for the future.”
Reed’s Entertainment is located at 421 East Industrial Drive, Suite 215, in the old Dress Barn storefront, in Sulphur Springs.
