Funeral services for Simmie Eugene Taylor, 54, of Sulphur Springs will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday April 12, at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church with Elder Christopher Goodson officiating.
Interment will follow at St. Luke Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bryant Jackson, Victor Goodson, Aundrae Goodson, La’Kenzie Taylor Jr., La’Kendrick Taylor and Christian Pryor. Honorary pallbearers will be Sanford Hill, Harry Sims, Dennis Nash, Ricky Godbolt, Dwight Randy Cockrum and James Ashton.
Mr. Taylor died Wednesday April 9, 2014, in Sulphur Springs.
He was born March 25, 1960, in Sulphur Springs, the son of Eugene Taylor and Simmie Ruth Hall. They preceded him in death.
He graduated from Sulphur Springs High School in 1978.
He married Verdena Taylor on March 26, 1998. She survives.
He worked for H.D. Lee Company, NETO Air-Gas and Maynard Tree Service.
Other survivors include five children, Shannon Evans of Hagonsport, Peggy Baird and spouse, Sammie, of Sulphur Springs, Misty Baird of Hallsville, Tiffany Spigner and spouse, Cory, of Sulphur Springs and Alisha Pryor and spouse, Kawn, of Memphis, Tenn; a brother, Ken Taylor; five sisters, Kathern Aimes and Mary Jackson, both of Sulphur Springs, Stephanie Pryor of Cooper, Lonease Williams of Dallas and Glorial Hemphill of Spring Valley, Calif.; and 14 grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Kerry Taylor and Vincient Taylor; and a son, Chuck Baird.
Services are under the direction of J.C. White Funeral Cremation Services.
