MARSHALL — Sulphur Springs pulled out of a tie with Hallsville to claim second place outright and advance to regional in boys golf.
Texas High won the title with a two-day total of 595 at Cypress Hills, while Sulphur Springs was runner-up with a 628 edging out third place Hallsville which carded a 634.
Sulphur Springs had rounds of 312-316 for the 628 total.
Individual scores for the Wildcats show two players named all-district. Garrett Landers had rounds of 76-73 for a 149 total. Brody Blackmon shot 74 and 77 for a 151 total.
Other scores — Cole Farmer 80-85-165; Mason Maeker 82-86-168; Alex Motes 87-81-168.
The team, coached by Ross Funk, will advance to Regional April 14-15 at Waterchase Country Club in Fort Worth.
The Lady Cats were the fourth place team in girls golf. Texas High won first with a 642 total with the Hallsville purple team in second, carding a 715.
Sulphur Springs played well the second day, cutting 10 strokes off their first round total.
The Lady Cats had a 420 during the opening round, but turned in a 410 total on the final day to move into fourth place.
Morgan Owens had rounds of 99 and 89 for a 188. Sarah Rost had a 100 the first day, then improved to a 93 on the round round.
Other scores include — Taylor Swinson 110-114-224; Story Thompson, 111-114-225; Jenna Ash 138-119-257 and Alissa Sotelo 133-127-260.
