We want to express our sympathy to the family of Allen Pace. He passed away on Sunday night and was buried in the North Hopkins Cemetery on Tuesday. Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Please remember the family in your prayers.

Regina Payton visited with her parents, Floyd and Martha Payton, from Monday evening through Thursday morning. Martha reported that they had lunch out a couple of days, but much of the time was spent around home, just visiting and reading. Regina traveled to Fort Worth on Thursday for a visit with her friend Judy, who is healing from a broken shoulder. She returned to Victoria on Saturday.

Sheila Boyd shared that she and Wesley have begun construction on their new home. She said, “They should be putting the roof on this week. So we will be dried in soon.”

There will be a community meeting in the North Hopkins School cafeteria on April 3, at 6:30 p.m. to discuss the proposed elementary school building plan.

Janice Franks, business manager at Linden-Kildare Consolidated Independent School District, and I were in Austin for the Texas Associations of School Boards Risk Management Fund — Members Conference at the AT&T Education Executive Education and Conference Center from Sunday afternoon through Tuesday. We heard excellent speakers, attended informative learning sessions, and enjoyed the beautiful accommodations and delicious meals provided by The Fund. We saw lots of beautiful bluebonnets along the drive.

Please make plans to support the Tira Volunteer Fire Department at their Chili Supper and Silent Auction on April 12. It will begin at 5 p.m. at the Tira Community Center.
