Paris Junior College is offering a scholarship covering tuition for one summer class to high school seniors graduating this year. The summer scholarship is in addition to the recently announced $1 million in scholarships for the 2014-2015 academic year beginning with the fall semester.
The scholarships will be given on a “first come, first serve” basis, so students should apply as soon as possible.
The summer tuition offer is available to graduating seniors from high schools in the PJC service area in Delta, Fannin, Lamar, Hunt, Hopkins and Red River counties.
PJC's scholarship funds come from an allocation of the Paris Junior College Memorial Foundation. This fall, the $1 million will enable PJC to award around 800 scholarships for the coming academic year.
"We've been able to do more this year because of generous donations from groups and individuals," said PJC President Dr. Pam Anglin, "especially those former students who credit PJC with setting them on the path to their present success. That's important, because in the past few years we've seen more and more students needing help to be able to attend college."
PJC's scholarship application is online at www.parisjc.edu. Select Financial Aid from the Quick Links drop down menu at the top of the page, then scroll down to the scholarships section to find more information and the application link.
High school seniors wanting the summer class scholarship should enter "graduating senior 2014" in the scholarship application box that asks for "semester/year to attend PJC."
