The Sulphur Springs Wildcats return to action today with a Class 4A Area soccer playoff game vs. higly touted Frisco Liberty.
The game is set for 7:30 p.m. at Princeton High School. Sulphur Springs is the home team. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students.
Sulphur Springs won their bi-district game 2-0 over Carrollton Newman Smith on Tuesday.
Brian Dela Rosa had both goals for the Wildcats. Moises Torres had a shutout in goal with several key saves.
The win moved the Wildcats season record to 14-6-6.
“It was a great win for us. We played really well Tuesday. We hope to play very similar to Tuesday night. Great defense and score when we have an opportunity. Liberty is very talented and we will have to play extremely well to beat them Friday night,” said Andy Holt, Sulphur Springs head boys soccer coach.
Frisco Liberty comes into the game tonight, ranked No. 4 in the state. The Redhawks post a 21-1 mark.
The squad defeated Sherman 9-0 in bi-district competition Monday.
The Redhawks are posting a .955 winning percentage. They scored 88 points, allowing just 12.
Liberty has shutout foes 16 times on the year. They are allowing .5 goals per game.
Their lone loss for the season was a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Heritage.
Liberty is averaging four goals and three assists per game.
Stian Sandbekhaug has 31 goals and 22 assists to lead the team and the Dallas area.
Teammate Juan Amaro has 13 goals and Keaton Parks has booted 11 goals on the year for the Liberty Redhawks.
