Pre-k, K registration slated April 7-9 at C-P CISD

E-mail Print PDF

Pre-kindergarten and kindergarten registration for the 2014-15 school year will be conducted April 7-9 at Como-Pickton Consolidated Independent School District.

Parents or legal guardians of students who will be four on or before Sept. 1 may stop by the school for applications; students who are not currently enrolled at C-P CISD may also register for kindergarten. All registration forms and materials must be completed and turned in before the child will be considered for enrollment. Missing items can be dropped off between 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Monday-Wednesday, April 7-9.

There will only be a limited number of seats available for pre-kindergarten students next year. Consequently, spots will be awarded to eligible students on a first-come, first-served basis.

Pre-k students will be required to follow the same policy for attendance as all other students in kindergarten through 12th grade. That includes getting  a note from a doctor denoting doctor visits, then sending it with children when they return to school so the absence will be excused.

When registering a child for classes, the applicant’s parent or legal guardian should bring with them the child’s birth certificate, Social Security card and up-to-date immunization record; and one document showing proof of district residency, which can be an electric, water, gas or other utility bill with their physical address on it. Also, bring all of the following documents if applicable: foster care information; doctors’ notes concerning allergy or health needs; and custodial documents or court orders pertaining to the child.

The guardian or parent registering the child will be asked to attend a short meeting explaining district procedures.

Parents of prekindergarten student should note that the classes are half-day only, with one session in the morning and another in the afternoon. Bus transportation will only be available for regular school delivery routes. Parents will be responsible for arranging midday transportation.
