Funeral mass of Christian burial for Mary Elizabeth Julian, 69, of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 19, at St. James Catholic Church with Father Susai Avula and Deacon Jerry Besze officiating.
Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park with Jay Julian Jr., John Julian, Joseph B. Ames Jr., Jason Ames, Gaylord Whiting and Danny Blount serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Sam Tatum, Marvin Duval and E.A. Junell.
There will be no formal visitation.
Mrs. Julian died Thursday, March 13, 2014, at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital.
Mary Elizabeth Julian was born March 18, 1944, in Sulphur Springs, the daughter of Joseph Burroughs Ames Sr. and Mary Sue Shelton Ames.
She married Jay William Julian on Jan. 23, 1965, in Sulphur Springs. He preceded her in death July 15, 2001.
Mrs. Julian attended Sulphur Springs High School, graduating in 1962, and attended East Texas State University in Commerce. Mrs. Julian, her husband and their sons owned and operated Home Place Mobile Home Park in Sulphur Springs from 1972 until 1988. In 1981, Mrs. Julian began her 30-plus year banking career at Sulphur Springs State Bank, where she managed the bookkeeping department and some other back-office departments. Mrs. Julian retired from banking in December 2011.
Survivors include two sons, Jay W. Julian Jr. and John P. Julian, both of Sulphur Springs; a brother, Joseph B. Ames Jr. and wife, Diane; and a sister, Samantha Whiting and husband, Gaylord.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and a brother, John Shelton Ames.
