Sulphur Springs baseball and softball teams won’t have spring break off, they are in action this week.
Today at home, Sulphur Springs plays Crandall. The junior varsity game is at noon, varsity at 2 p.m.
Sulphur Springs is coming off a 12-2 loss to Red Oak in Saturday action the final day of the Ennis Tournament.
Sulphur Springs scored two runs in the fourth inning for their only rally.
The Wildcats had five hits and made three errors.
Alex Burney went 2-for-2 with a double; Ethan Phillips was 2-for-2 with a double and two-run homer.
Hunter Coleman pitched for the Wildcats taking the loss during the Saturday game. Coleman pitched four innings, allowing seven runs, off nine hits while walking four.
Kade Hudgins also pitched. He threw two innings, giving up five runs from three hits and three bases on balls.
Red Oak scored a dozen times off 11 hits.
The Wildcats, now 8-4 on the year, play at North Lamar Friday for a varsity only game at 1 p.m. in Paris.
The ninth grade Wildcats play today in Crandall in a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
The Lady Cats had their final game in the Lindale Tournament rained out.
Sulphur Springs(13-4-1) hosts Pine Tree for the district opener Tuesday at Lady Cat park. The JV game is at 4;30 p.m. with the varsity at 6 p.m.
Sulphur Springs will continue district play Friday.
The Lady Cats play at Marshall, also at 4:30 and 6 p.m.
