MG meets Laneville in state playoffs

The Miller Grove Hornets begin their quest for a state championship at 7 p.m. today.
    The Hornets (27-9) take on Laneville (32-6) in the state Class 1A, DII boys UIL basketball playoffs at the Frank Erwin Center on the campus of the University of Texas in Austin.

    The winner of that game will take on the winner Water Valley (27-5) contest against Nazareth (24-12).
  The state title game will be played at 7 p.m. Saturday.
    The Miller Grove  game or games will be broadcast on radio station KSST at 1230 AM.
    Miller Grove coming to the game battled tested beating tough foes like Bellevue, Huckabay and Roxton to advance to Austin.
    Probable starters for the Hornets include: Nathan George, Patrick Covington, Weston House, Logan Miller and Aaron Smith.
    Covington, a 6-4 senior, averages 14 points and 8 rebounds per game. George, Miller and Smith score about 11 points per game.
    Laneville has made 10 trips to Austin, winning the state title on three occasions.
    The Yellowjackets defeated Miller Grove in Laneville, 68-61 early in the season.
    Laneville is led by 6-5 junior forward Ty Johnson.
